Welcome to the first-ever Forest Park Cornhole League!

We’re throwing bags, talking a little trash, and raising some money for Forest Park along the way. Yes, there will be standings. Yes, there will be braggin’ rights. And yes, there will be cash and prizes up for grabs!  We fully expect everyone to take winning slightly more seriously than they admit.

But at the end of the day, this league is about getting together, having some fun, and spending summer nights with the Forest Park crew. We’re keeping year one to 8 teams, which means spots will be tighter than a bag hanging on the edge of the board. Grab a teammate, come up with a ridiculous team name, and get ready to toss some bags for a good cause.

Bags. Brackets. Braggin’ Rights.

 League Rules

Team Requirements

  • Each team must consist of at least 2 players and no more than 3 players
  • Each team must include at least one current Forest Park Swim Club (FPSC) member or Forest Park Flyers Swim Team (FPST) family member (Team Captain), with no additional cost if there are non-Forest Park team members on the team
  • Teams may rotate players between games and matches, provided all participants are listed on the team’s roster
  • Team rosters are locked after Week 1 unless approved by league organizers
  • Maximum of eight teams

League Format

  • 8 Teams
  • 4-Week Regular Season, Thursday nights
  • If a team misses their match, it’s a forfeit. A forfeited match will be recorded as a 2–0 match loss
  • If both teams miss the match, 0 points are awarded
  • Each team plays 2 matches per week on Thursdays
  • Total of 8 regular season matches per team
  • Standings determined by overall match record
  • Match Start Times: Teams should be ready to play at their scheduled match time. A grace period of 10 minutes will be allowed before a match may be forfeited. The second match of each night will begin within 10 minutes of both teams completing their first match of the week

Match Format

  • Matches are Best 2 out of 3 games
  • Games are played to 21 points, with no hard cap of 21. If both teams reach 21 points or more in the same round (with the same point total), the game continues until one team finishes a round with a higher score, up to a maximum score of 25
  • If one team reaches 25 points and the opposing team finishes that same round with fewer than 25 points, the team with 25 points wins
  • If both teams reach 25 points during the same round, the game is recorded as a tie.
  • Match winners receive 3 Match points for standings
  • In the case of a tie, each team receives 1 Match Point for standings

Scoring

  • Bag in the hole = 3 points
  • Bag on the board = 1 point
  • Bag touching the ground (no bouncing, a bag is dead once it hits the ground) = 0 points
  • Cancellation scoring will be used:
    • Team A scores 7 points in a round
    • Team B scores 4 points in a round
    • Team A earns 3 points for that round
  • The team that scores in the previous round throws first in the next round. A coin toss determines which team throws first to start the game
    • A tie in a round means no points, and the team that started the tied round throws first again
  • Players must remain behind the front edge of the board when releasing a bag. Crossing the foul line results in the throw scoring zero points
  • Players may not touch or move bags until all bags in the round have been thrown and the score is agreed upon

Board Setup & Bags

  • Front edges of boards positioned 20 feet apart using a measuring tape
  • Players remain in their designated lane for the duration of each game
  • Each player throws all 4 bags before scoring is calculated
  • Bags will be provided for use; teams may use their own, provided they meet standard size and weight rules (approximately 6×6 inches, weighing 15.5–16.5 ounces)
  • Teams must start and finish each match with the same set of matching bags

Regular Season Standings

Teams will be ranked using the following in order:

  • Match Points
  • Head-to-Head Record
  • Total Games Won
  • Point Differential
  • Coin Toss

Sportsmanship

  • Friendly competition and lighthearted trash talk are encouraged
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct, excessive profanity, or disruptive behavior may result in warnings, forfeits, or removal from the league
  • Players may not intentionally distract opponents while they are throwing

Miscellaneous

  • League organizers have final authority on all rule interpretations, disputes, and decisions involving teams or gameplay
  • League fees are non-refundable if a team voluntarily withdraws or is removed from the league due to rule violations
