Forest Park Swim Club

Member Resource Guide

Welcome to the Forest Park Swim Club, a cherished community gem celebrating 64 years of family-oriented fun and an unwavering commitment to safety! As a members-only club, we are proud to offer an environment where families can come together to create lasting memories, all while enjoying the refreshing embrace of our swimming facilities.

To maintain our club’s standards and keep membership costs affordable, we rely on the collective effort of our members through a volunteer program. Each family is required to contribute a minimum of 12 volunteer hours per season. This collaborative approach not only helps in keeping our expenses low but also strengthens our community bond, as we all work together to ensure our club remains a welcoming and well-maintained space for everyone.

We are also proud to host the Forest Park Flyers, our spirited swim team that embodies our club’s values of teamwork, excellence, and sportsmanship. Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines or participating in the races, the Flyers bring excitement and unity to our summer season.

As we look forward to the season ahead, we’re filled with anticipation for the memories we’ll create, the friendships we’ll form, and the fun we’ll have. Here’s to a fantastic season at Forest Park Swim Club, where the sun always shines a little brighter, the water always feels a bit cooler, and laughter fills the air. Welcome, and let the fun begin!

A popular method for meeting this requirement is through gatekeeping duties. Additional opportunities include event support or utilizing specialized skills (like electrical, plumbing, gardening, etc.) you or someone in your household may possess to assist with the upkeep of our facilities.  Volunteer shifts are available on

A Gatekeeper is an adult at the front desk during pool hours. Some of the duties of a gatekeeper include watching the front gate, answering the phone, and keeping the bathrooms stocked and cleaned. Primary duties of the GateKeeper include:

  • Allow only current members in the pool & ensure they sign in
  • Monitor Venmo payments for snacks and drinks

Several cleanup and maintenance events will be organized over the course of the year. Furthermore, if you notice any maintenance requirements and believe you can assist, please reach out to the board for approval to conduct maintenance as a way to fulfill your work hours.

Social Events

Throughout the summer, there will be social events such as movie nights, BBQs, etc… in which there will be volunteer opportunities. These events can be a much more fun and rewarding way of completing member volunteer hours.

Please refrain from simply removing your name from a shift and expecting another member to cover it. The inability to fulfill your shift without securing a replacement will result in a $100.00 fine against your membership.

Failure to perform a minimum of 12 volunteer hours during the season will subject you to a $25 fine per hour/$100 per 4 hour shift.

Forest Park Flyers Swim Team

Since 1976, the Forest Park Swim Team (FPST) has been an extension of the Forest Park Swimming Association.  The FPST Flyers is a recreational swim team for youth aged 3-18.  Children do not need to know how to swim to join.  Mini Flyer programs are available to teach them the basics and then move up to swimming in meets.  While the primary goal is for all swimmers to have fun, the coaches and swim team board works to foster participation, develop good sportsmanship, team spirit, a good self-image, and above all, to help all swimmers improve both their skills and their times throughout the season in a friendly recreational swimming environment. FPST will also promote a sense of community that will endure beyond the swim season.

Swim Season & Practices

The swim season runs April through July, ending the first week of August with the County Swim meet.   Practice times vary by age and skill level.  The summer schedule will begin on Monday, June 10th and practices will be held in both the morning and the afternoon.  Morning practice is considered the primary practice and stresses endurance.  Afternoon practice stresses stroke work.  Swimmers are expected to attend at least one practice each day.

Being a member of the team, you will be sure to have some fun too.  Here are some of the planned activities:  Swimmer pancake breakfast, beach trip, Waterworld, team movie, pasta feed potlucks before two day meets, pizza and awards after two day meets, as well as Buddy Night.  There are also age group activities that are planned by a parent coordinator.  Check the calendar in this packet for dates and the pool bulletin board for further details.

Mini-Flyer Program

Mini-Flyers is designed for the sole purpose of preparing young children and new swimmers to advance to the swim team. Mini-Flyer coaches work with up to 3 children at a time, learning the basics of swimming.  If you believe your child is ready for the Mini-Flyer program, contact coach Jeff to schedule a tryout.
